Hi!
I'm trying to add a live Metallica album to iCloud music library but no matter what I add to the song names or how I write the artist name the most of the tracks still get matched to the studio version.

Does anybody got a trick how to fool the matching mechanism?

Thanks!

Oh I was just coming here to suggest a thread is posted with the title "Is Apple Music matching fixed yet?", wiki'ed and locked so it can only have a "NO" as the only post and then one day in 2019 "YES" so I can switch.

If anybody knows how to stop the "matching" from turning my songs into salad please post it here.

only way is don't add them, or make a itunes library which does not use icloud, or keeping "icloud music library" turned off.

One way i get round it is to change the name slightly, or add a number to the end of the song name..

so 'Metallica' would becomes 'Metallica 1"

Apart from these, no idea of other ways. Also Apple does have an "update music library" option in File> library menu to force an update, unfortunately, besides this Apple updates it when it also wants to, although u can see the "x" in the corner.

Of course, the final way i always do is disconnect from the internet :D That always works 100%. As long as u have offline music, no harm is done.

I found this not to work either. As I posted before, I had a song called "Wash All Over Me (Demo 4)", 4:17 length, album Iconic replaced by AM by "Wash All Over Me", 4:01, album Rebel Heart. Both are credited by Madonna but I think it would be peak ridiculousness to have to ALSO add "Madonna 1" because AM doesn't care about sonic footprint, length, title variation or album name.

I was syncing music for gym to my iPod Nano 5th gen and – do you know! – it just works! Nothing gets replaced and everything works 100% fine. Of course it has no Apple Music, but on the plus side, it has no iCloud either. If Cook, Cue or whoever that donkey is that insists iCloud is necessary for syncing gave up on the idea, AM would straightaway become the best streaming service available when it comes to local file sync. As it is, it's the worst one.

Apple only matches by song name and artist (meta-data) only. nothing else

What they should be also matching by is the most important they miss out is that Apple should also be matching "by album". They do not match this tag

i do not see a way how u can improve something that is fundamentally and functionally how it operates by nature... And to this day, i have seen not seen any improvement of matching since launch on July 30th..Until I do, i will stick with what i know.

Other services offer the same matching by songs, so if Apple music has issues, so do others..

Apple say they are "improving" the matching process, by they have not given an explanation how they are doing it... And from my experience that's because they don't know themselves, since u can't make something better if u choose a wrong path to begin with.

You need to back out, and choose a different path.

Of course it worked just sync to phone, because u adjusted this stuff yourself.. and no icloud or anything, that always worked, it did for me too.

Its icloud has is the problem..

Not even that. :( They seem to match to "closest thing we have". If you have a CD with five remixes, or various live recordings, it's going to turn into a musical bloodbath.

At the very LEAST this, or use the Match technology they invented and own!

I am so pissed off with how Spotify handles local files I am starting a blog about Spotify bugs, tricks and tutorials, however they do very little matching. Since I got Premium... four or so months ago, I had two incorrect matches: one was a song that started with a fade-in and I manually segued it into previous one ("No Sleeep" by Janet Jackson) and one was a live version that Spotify decided was a remix ("Losing My Mind" by Pet Shop Boys). Everything, EVERYTHING else matched or uploaded fine. Mind, their search does not search local files at all, which is one of the reasons I can't wait for Apple to get their shift together.

Amen. I still think the best way to improve matching is to remove iCloud from the equation completely, or follow Google's example where you can store 50 thousand files in their cloud for free and they do not get altered at all.

This is why I went back to Google Play Music. When I upload a song I can flag "incorrect match" and it will use my copy rather than the matched copy. No more problems.
