What is the reason Apple Music fails to provide a playlist of your loved songs? This is the only reason my wife and I don't want to use it. It's such a basic function that EVERY OTHER music service has.

I'm aware you can connect to iTunes and create a smart playlist, but this would not allow the songs to update from that point on and is just ridiculous.

A year later, I still have this question. Is there still no simple playlist of songs you “loved?”
Just select "Live updating"

So If I create such a Smart Playlist once on a MAC by logging into Apple Music with my Id and Password, can I start seeing a Playlist of my Loved Songs on iPad Pro then ? I dont have a MAC so will I have to keep going to MAC even after I have created such a Smart Playlist on MAC ? Will it be a Universal Feature ? is it just a One time activity ?

I haven’t connected my phone to my Mac in years. So, I have to plug my iPhone into the Mac, open iTunes and create this list and then sync? God, why dont They just have a liked playlist like EVERY other music service?
No you don't need to ever plug in. Playlists and updates are synced over iCloud dynamically to all your devices. I do almost all my Playlist updates/edits on my Mac and they are mirrored on my iPhone/iPad within seconds.

Hmm. I will have to look at this. So to be clear, I create the LOVED playlist as a live updating playlist and it will add new music I later 'love' and I never have to do anything else to the playlist? And the playlist will show up across all devices?

Make ANY changes on any device and they are reflected across all devices on the same account. Just make any change on your iPhone and look on your Mac (or vise-versa) and you will see it.

you can create a regular playlist on any device, but you might need to boot up your Mac to create a “smart” playlist and edit the rules Julien posted up. Playlists just let you add songs without any rules, “smart” sets the parameters you want From either adding every single song to your collection, to icloud only songs, to songs based on ratings Or play counts via a itunes/Mac.

I created the smart playlist in iTunes. But it’s not showing up as a playlist in the music app. I’m not subscribed to Apple Music, but I didn’t think that would matter. Why wouldn’t it show up?

I don't have that option. Apparently, it's only available if you are a subscriber to Apple Music. I'll subscribe and see that it works.

I subscribed to Apple Music and created a "Loved" Smart Playlist. "Love is Loved" is the only rule, live sync.

On my Mac this playlist has 83 songs, but on my iPhone it has 30. As I love new songs, some get added and some don't. What's the deal? (I've force closed/quit the apps multiple times and simply waited)

Update: I'm "loving" more songs and they aren't populating in that playlist. UG.

Just give it a bit, your Mac has to sync up to Apple Music from which your iphone has to see the changes.

A good indication I think is that it’s already seeing 30!!!!

Those synced instantly. It’s been hours and still no more. It’s really frustrating to have no simple LIKED station. I don’t know what else to do.

I think I have posted my workaround for this before, but I'm not sure. I found out that new songs are only added to my loved playlist when they are ALSO in an actual playlist (not a smart playlist like loved is).

So if I hear a song I like, I'm telling Siri "I like this song" and then right after I say "Add this song to my playlist New Finds". Doing it like this always makes the song show up in the loved playlist, but it's annoying, because it takes much longer obviously.

+1 for Apple Music needing to add a built-in playlist option for liked/loved songs that syncs across all devices... This should be able to be handled on iPhone or iPad. They also removed the "recently played" playlist.

It really makes no sense. I emailed Apple Support. They tell me to create Smart Playlist. 1. I shouldn't have to that. 2. It doesn't work. I did create this Smart Playlist, but it doesn't update. The playlist on my Mac in the Music app has like 85 songs, but the playlist on my iPhone has like 35. Neither updates. Just is baffling why there's no built in playlist accessible within the app.

I agree, but making a smart playlist on a Mac I thought only stays on a Mac? Need to try this out for my self again.. all in all this is all weird.. it shouldn't be this difficult..

No, when you create the smart playlist on a Mac in the Music app, it is [should be] immediately available on the Music app on iOS. The problem is, for me, the songs don't synch properly on either the Mac or iOS.

I meant when you make a smart playlist on Mac it will only reference songs from "your library" not songs from "Apple Music". They need *smart playlists* that update from Apple Music itself and syncs across all devices.
