The notification center is awesome. Only prob is if you have an unseen notification you don't know this unless you pull down the bar and check. Apple needs to add a number the the icon bar that represents unseen notifications, like android. What do you think?

I agree there should be some sort of a notification possibly on the top section in the same line of the status bar (where the battery and cell antennas are at).
This will tell you if you even need to pull that thing down...

i think it would be a nice thing to have but the bar gets crowded. i think a change of color would be nice, like it does when you tether or when you are voice recording. so if you got a notification lets say the bar change to white since red is for voice recorder and blue is for tether and green is for in-call.

I like the idea of a different color. The icon bar does get crowded

I completely agree. Notification center is a little too much in the background. I like how he shade works and I like the alert list in the lock screen, but it really does need a presence on the iOS desktop.

I would think the badges on your email/phone/messages/facebook/etc. would be enough to alert you that you have a new notification that you didn't see the last time you opened your notifications tray.

Like Android? Yeah. Apple didn't implement notifications too well here. And please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks the grey background is hideous. It does NOT much any of the other colors

but it goes well for the iOS/MacOS X theme

I don't think adding an icon is the best route to take due to the fact it can get crowded up there sometimes depending on what you have enabled and you would want to know at a very quick glance if you do actually have notifications.

I believe the best way to implement notification alerts in the status bar would include having the time pulsate/fade from it's normal text formatting to a bold formatting on a continuous basis until the shade is swiped down. Anyone agree?

You don't want the bar to completely change color because it would ruin some of the aesthetics when inside apps and would be sort of distracting.
