It's been a 1.5yr since the Macbook Air M1 was released and peripherals are still hell. Drivers are buggy, leaky and crashing all the time.

I have a Logi K860, which is advertised as Mac compatible (without any asterisks) and it is a mess, sometimes it just doesn't register keys and sometimes I press a key once and it goes multiple times. This is not limited to my unit, or to this keyboard model, or to Bluetooth etc etc. It is a common issue with all Logitech's keyboards on M1, and although some people don't experience it (which I have a hard time understanding), many do and report it on forums and reddit. It happens on Bluetooth, Unifying receivers and on cabled devices (when using wired accessories).

Similar issues also happen when using Logitech's mice and trackballs, I have an MX Ergo and a G305, both are 100% currently. It works until it suddenly stops and stutters for multiple seconds. Doesn't matter if bluetooth, unifying or cable, always happens.

As far as I know, Logitech is the largest third-party maker of computer peripherals

My Kensington's Orbit trackball (wired) works somewhat well, but official drivers use 2gb of RAM.

If you start looking through forums you will see a bunch of other devices from other manufacturers experiencing these same issues, pointer devices are laggy and sluggish.

Even the Magic Mouse is problematic. Here is an interesting thread focused on the Magic Mouse: https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/tgsyz2
Apple needs to come up with a solution for this, it is insane that this still happens after so long since the m1 macbooks have been released.

You are seeing this the wrong way around. Hardware developers need to work with Apple to fix their drivers. But hardware developers are notoriously slow with driver updates. Once the product has been shipped they seem to be happy to just slack off. Drivers do not bring in money, the just cost R&D money.

It’s not just on m1 macs, I have similar issues with my logistic keyboard and mouse on Intel macs too. It can be frustrating though it’s very intermittent and doesn’t really interfere with my work to much.

My Logitech Master 2S mouse has massive latency issues when connecting directly via Bluetooth and with the Logitech dongle. It's been this way since the M1 Air first came out. No fix. Now on my M1 Pro 16", no fix.

When I move the mouse, there's a noticeable delay in the onscreen cursor. It makes it unusable for things like coding.

Logitech's attitude is generally "don't care". I don't think Apple can do anything about it, not their responsibility either. As others have said, Logitech issues are not limited to M1 Macs.

But as mentioned in my post, these issues affect other accessories made for Mac, including the Magic Mouse. It is the same set of problems, it’s hard to blame logitech here if there’s a widespread issue affecting all types of accessories made for Mac.

Strange....I use three magic mice and never a problem.

Yep. No Apple products display the same issues a the Logitech stuff does. I use both.

That's how it should be, but isn't. Which is why OP said Apple needs to do the work, for the sake of their customers.

I could never get Bluetooth mice to work well but Logitech mice using the unifying adapter 2.4 work well for me in most cases, save for any interference from poorly shielded USB 3.0 devices.

Sorry no. The problems here are with third party devices. In that case you are the customer of these third party vendors. Apple has no direct access to their hardware and SDKs and as such cannot fix these problems.
These are third party vendor problems!

They can fix it with a phone call, which is how they have fixed many, many similar problems.

Yeah, they don't really give a crap. My Logi Streamcam is still running Rosetta, I have opened ticket that their original Logi software is no longer supported on Monterey+ lol. They end up throwing everyone under the bus to Logi HUB (Gaming software runs like junk).

Clearly Logitech sucks at software, and their mouse crappy OMRON buttons double clicking after a year of use.

What wild claims! How do you know this?
Because I haven't been under a rock for the last 20 years...

How do you think so many things like iTunes, Apple TV, CarPlay, and endless others that depend entirely on the cooperation of third parties have come to be? They knock on Apple's door? No.

Apple no doubt has a lot of rubbish in their OSes here lately, and they need to get those bugs fixed. But the Logitech issues are mostly the fault of Logitech. I have an old MX Anywhere 2 mouse and it works well my MacBook Air M1, but it is old and has been around long enough that Logitech finally got the Logi Options app to work correctly. Logitech is notorious for having problematic drivers and it usually takes several updates before they get them working correctly. I have the Logitech Folio Touch Keyboard case for my iPad Air 2020 and it keeps sending a false signal to the iPad that it is in keyboard mode even when it is folded back in tablet mode, which makes the iPad touch screen keyboard more difficult to display. It started this after a recent iPadOS update. So Apple likely broke it, but Logitech has yet to fix it, so IMO both share the blame.,

Apple should stop breaking them at every major OS update
Nope. Not at all. Work to keep your products relèvent with the newest os. Lazy devs whinging about os’ breaking things bugs me and stops me wanting to use their products.

I work hard to stay relevent. Why do they think it’s not their fault?

Agree. Vendors should be members of Apple's Developer programs and get access to the latest documentation and betas. They should have their QA teams test their products against alpha and beta drops to identify issues. Then it becomes a question of whether the company has enough resources to fix issues or at least notify customers of incompatibilities.

Good Luck with many of developers of this stuff are from East Asia or South East Asia! This seems to be most audio plugins are this way too!
