I have noticed alot of communications to the 10.0.0.0 network which is Apples network. I do not use Icloud and the only applications that acces that network should be Itunes and The App store on my Yosemite 10.10.5 workstation.

I have blocked the 10.0.0.0 network and tried opening the App store and it changed from 10.0.0.0 network to 96.16.0.0 netwokr to access the Applstore through Akamai.

What is access the Apple or 96.16 network. Keep in mind when I did this test I had Itunes and the App store applications closed.

10.0.0.0 is NOT Apple's network. The 10.x.x.x range is a private network range. 172.16.x.x and 192.168.x.x are the other private IPv4 network address ranges.

Private networks are used by Cable and DSL modems to create DHCP address pools for devices that will be sharing an internet connection. They are also used by anti-malware software to create a proxy connection that will be used for content scanning.

Yes you are correct. That is a typing error it should be 17.0.0.0. I have correctd the title.

The IP address is coming from 17.0.0.0 continually and when I block the traffic it eventual updates to
96.16.67.205
173.223.64.156
Akamai.

Why would this occur?
