I'm sort of stunned that there wasn't a single mention about the Ohio State Shooting in my Apple News feed. Really makes me wonder who's curating it, and what their agenda is ...

Even searching for it doesn't produce one story about it. Very odd. What else am I missing on a daily basis?

Try again. I see front page mention now. TV news jumped all over it stating active shooter which turned out to be not true.
"Active Shooter" is a term coined by Homeland Security to indicate that someone is "actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area." While the weapon is typically a gun, it doesn't have to be. So it was actually an "active shooter" situation, the campus communicated and responded appropriately, and it was reported on by news appropriately.

Thanks. I see now that you are correct. That term seems not only politically weighty but confusing to someone who has not been trained on its meaning and expected response.
