Apple next product/market target.

After many years of refining computers to make it the right product to have it in your house, Apple decide to aim for the mp3 player market with the iPod.
Using their technique of spotting the right moment and the right product to sell they decide to try as well with the iPhone.

We all know how successuful Apple became, and their ability to renew themself is part of their success.

Now decide to try it again with the iPad, and this is the vision of computing that Jobs and Woz had since 1988 when they released that short of "Apple Vision of the Future".

They have iTunes which is the biggest multimedia library on the internet.

What Apple will be doing next?

If you think what piece of technology you have at home that can't be Apple-branded probably you could think at TV.

Apple has TV as box set to play content downloaded from iTunes and soon maybe will have streaming.

Do you think Apple will dare launching a flat TV screen next?
Or maybe a Mac Touch? A Social Network? A new iPad based home computer? Or they will come out with something that we haven't even yet think about?

That's been rumored for a little while. At some point I think they will.

Absolutely not. There's really no room for a new player in such a mature market. What could they do differently that would prompt a consumer to choose an apple flat screen tv over a Sony, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, LG, etc. There's too many players producing TVs and no real draw for apple.

Or maybe a Mac Touch? A Social Network? A new iPad based home computer? Or they will come out with something that we haven't even yet think about?

I don't have any idea what apple will do next, but a social network doesn't make sense when apple pretty much anti-social Seriously, they sell software to sell hardware. Setting up a social network doesn't buy them anything. an iPad based home computer is a poor idea especially since it cannot run FLASH.

Flash is going no where, no matter what the fanboys say many many sites use that and have no plans of dropping it. HTML5 is still in its infancy and few sites will be willing to embrace that so quickly.

I know, in fact in that video there was only Woz.
But I'm talking about the vision that they had and Apple have been successful for those visions. And 11 years later Jobs been hired again because Apple without him was failing.

Wrong again. Jobs came back to Apple when Apple purchased Jobs's company. Apple purchased NeXT because it decided to use OpenSTEP as the basis of its next generation OS.

Up to that point, it had been a close call between OpenSTEP and the BeOS from Be, Inc. Be was headed by Jean-Louis Gassée, another Apple veteran. In fact, it was Gassée who replaced Steve Jobs as head of Macintosh development.

The competition was between Be and NeXT, both companies with deep Apple roots. Within the Mac community, both companies had strong support. If anything, Be supporters were more rabid. However, Apple went with NeXT because BeOS was immature.

Long story short, Apple purchased NeXT because it wanted a new foundation for its OS. Gil Amelio was not looking for someone to replace him as CEO.

Would be cool to see what they would do with that, considering they got MobileMe and could easily extend it.

It may take a while, but it will happen. It's only natural, and it's happened before. Old technologies are very popular, but something better comes along, and over time they die. Then the cycle repeats itself. And it's not just Apple abandoning flash. Microsoft is too, in Windows Mobile 7. It's only a matter of time. For now, flash may continue to have a big presence and be used, but we have to give it up some time - better to give it up now than keep it until it is even more outdated and decrepit than it is now.

I'd like an extended AppleTV where you could record content from TV, even if it prevented you from copying the content onto other devices - to keep the studios happy.

I hope Apple don't do a TV, I think it would tank - people already have their TVs.. any thing extra would be an add-on device.
