Hey all. I'm a longtime PC user looking to switch over to a new MBP as soon as they're released. I'm also looking to get an iPhone.

I know that when my brother purchased his Macbook last year with a student discount, Apple threw in a free Nano. My question is this: Am I dumb for hoping that Apple has some sort of iPhone discount with the purchase of a new Macbook Pro?

I'm not very familiar with the way Apple handles promotional deals. If anyone has any insight it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

It's a nice thought (and we'd all love it I'm sure) but I wouldn't hold my breath. While Apple does occasionally run some good combo deals, the rarely do it with new products, and I'd be doubly shocked if it they did with something as buzz-worthy as the iPhone.

I think it's safe to assume the iPhone will be full-price and expensive for quite a while unless the sales numbers pale in comparison to the interest that's been drummed up already.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. They might be offering a promotion with the Nano still, but I don't think they are going to be discounting the iPhone right out of the gate. Apple almost always will throw in a free $100 printer as well when you buy a new Mac, off topic, but free stuff is always nice.

I've had my MBP for almost a year now, you're gonna love it.

If you noticed the time period that they offer the free ipods, its usually shortly before a new generation ipod comes out, I think its their way of trying to increase sales of the macbook while also depletting their old ipod surplus.

I would bet my right eye that Apple will not offer any free iPhones, EVER! Keep in mind, its not just another stand alone device, it requires activation and a phone plan. But who knows maybe when the second generation iPhone is about to come out they'll offer a FREE iPhone with the purchase of a MacPro.:)
