If anyone knows ... is there an easy way I can insert a double line at the bottom of a cell for accounting purposes? I see that I can insert a single dark line of varying size but I do not see an option for a double line. Is there a some way to accomplish this task? Maybe my software is outdated. It's version 6.1. Thanks.

You can create a double underline by going to the Format menu > Font > Show Fonts > tap on the underline submenu and select Double. I only have Numbers v10, but I imagine the Show Fonts is available in earlier versions too.

Thanks for that recommendation. This is close but not exactly what I was trying to do. With Excel, I can place a double line on the bottom of the cell. With the method you gave me, I can place a double line under the text only. It's okay I guess -- but not as easy to use across multiple columns and with inserting new rows. If there is another solution I would love to know it. Thanks again.

Well that's interesting. I agree though -- super awkward. A little disappointing actually. I hope Apple would add the double line formatting at some point. It's really a simple addition if you ask me and those conducting business could use it. Thanks again.

There are a lot of nagging nits to pick with numbers. There really isnt any reason it shouldn’t be as good or better than excel or google’s spreadsheet app.
