I've searched Google and a bunch of forums many times over the years, but maybe I'm not using the right language... as I fill in info daily on a page in Numbers, is there a highlighted bar (similar to a ruler on an iPad) that I can move over the page (or highlight a row in the page that can move easily on a daily basis) to keep my place? With zillions of cells of info, having a bar of some kind across the page that I can move would be a tremendous help to keep track of how far down I am in each column. If anyone knows of such a feature/hack I'd be very interested to know about it. Thanks!

It's still not clear to me what you want to do. Are you using the freeze rows and/or columns headers feature? That can help you see where you are regardless of how many rows (or columns) you're working in. Wouldn't the "ruler" idea for "how far down" you are "in each column" by using the row numbers on the left? You can also highlight (and then un-highlight) as needed any rows or columns. Or do you have View Ruler turned on?

If you can give more detail about which features you're using, it might help us understand your need. I find it interesting that you've been searching for a solution for years.

Sounds like you're looking for column headers (or alternatively, as Namara mentioned, freezing rows and/or columns)

if you select the row number on the left the whole row is highlighted (apply a fill if you are about to close the document so when reopened you don’t even have to remember the row number you highlighted last).
But because this seems so obvious&easy you are looking probably for something else. 🤓
