Finally, the great business model called Apple Online Store has been launched in Brazil, one of the world's biggest economies and a major emerging power.

Congratulations Brazil..! Brazilians are not only gonna have the World Cup and the Olympics...now it's also possible to buy everything Apple through the good ol' channel used in many other countries..! Now if you could only lower your import taxes on manufactured goods a little bit...

TBO, I never had imagined that Apple hadn't reached Brazil with its online Store...???

Come to think of it, how many countries don't have an Apple Online Store yet, then...?
It was introduced in 1997, IIRC

Congrats to you guys anyway.

Too bad only people currently in Europe have replied... Switzerland, England, and Holland ;)

This forum does not have a lot of Brazilians in it, this is true (probably because of language preferences).

As for the online store, well, not THAT many countries have it; in Central and South America, only Mexico has it besides Brazil. The fact of the matter is: due to historically high import taxes and an unfavorable exchange rate, the adoption of Macs in Brazil has always occurred at a slower pace than in Europe, for example.

But now the timing is perfect, since the purchasing power of Brazilians is skyrocketing and the dollar has hit new lows against the Real...the only thing blocking more Brazilians from buying Macs is still the convoluted tax system that makes imported computers so expensive...even then, the presence of an official online store and broader config options will SURELY push more people to buy Apple products, instead of having to rely on stores-within-a-store approaches.
