Hi All,

I was very interested to watch the below utube video.

The thing that put me off using the password manager was the auto generated function - it would be a pain to use on a non apple device trying to log into a website.

However, from the video - can I go in later and edit the password to something else, and still have the 2 factor authentication and phishing protection?

Is the apple version of a password manager worth me trying?

Yes... you can just go to the website and change the password and the macOS Keychain app will see you have made a change and ask if you want to update the password save in Keychain.

For me personally, the lack of true multi-platform and multi-browser support with iCloud Keychain is a dealbreaker. But if those things aren't dealbreakers for you, I don't know of any other major issues with it. I could see where it might be more convenient for someone using Safari exclusively on all Apple devices.

1Password for me. Some people don't like their subscription model, and I'm not a huge fan of that in general either, but I get enough value out of it that it's worth it for me.

Apple Keychain is great. I use it on all of my Apple devices. It’s easy and convenient. Just watch out for those “data leak” notifications…

If you ONLY ever use Apple devices, and your Apple ID is properly secured then it's a great option. If there's any chance you do or will in future use a non-Apple device then you'll be better served by a platform-agnostic solution like Bitwarden (free, open source, basic feature set) or 1Pass (paid, way more fancy features) with proper MFA.

I recommend you have a reliable backup app alternative for your passwords etc in case you are unable to access Apple Keychain for some reason.

When I went into my passwords it had 365 "Security Recommendations". I've deleted loads and got it down to 30 now but I find there are multiple passwords for the same websites? I mean, I had around 6 for Apple? Why doesn't it delete the old passwords when you create a new one?

Another thing I found was that some websites won't accept the Apple recommended "strong" passwords saying it's too long? I wonder if these issues are the same with all password managers?

I personally think that passwords and related sensitive data are so important that they deserve being broken out from anything else you subscribe to or use.

I have to use Firefox for my wife's school server, some reason they insist. Firefox has one, Safari Uses the keychain and Ihave 1 password because of the form filler. It auto renewed, so we have it for a while. I chose 1password because when I was comparing managers, this was recommended for apple mac/imac.

Keychain is great, as I have an ipad, iphone and of course the passwords work on all of them. What I do need to do is thin them out, the number I have, get rid of those I don't use (sites).
