Did a quick search and didn't really came up with anything. Do any of you guys know (or have tired) using Apple Pay at the Verizon store? With the new time limited cash back from Discover, I want to see if the Verizon store will take Apple Pay or simply have and use NFC terminal. It'd be great if they do take Apple pay at their B&M stores.

The iPads they use in the Verizon stores have contactless in the case. I personally haven't tried it, but it should work; some people on Reddit had luck.

Thanks and apologies for the late update. I got around to call them, and the representative told me that they don't exactly say "Apple Pay", but they do have contactless payment (even on their payment machine has that), and they are enabled. So it does like NFC is good to go at Verizon Store.

Update: Didn't get much response, not sure if anybody care about the discount, but I figured I'll update the result. I was able to go into Verizon store and use Apple Pay to pay off my bill, the payment machine was as not taking NFC but I was able to pay with one of their mobile terminal. Giving that my bill is several hundred, 22% from Discover will be a good cash back.

Glad this was useful. Just FYI, you might see some resistance as to use the Apple Pay. My usual store typically give me some crap about their machine not working (flat out lies), the employee just doesn't want to do any extra work. I love it how they always question me "Are you use we can do Apple Pay? I don't think so...." that kind of BS speech. Then I show them my previous payment of over $1500+ over the last several weeks. The last time I did it I had to go to a different Verizon store, which was much nicer and more willing to try Apple Pay. Although I was also their first customer that ever tired Apple Pay.

Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah I'm gonna prepay a bunch and try to pay off all the phone payments early. So you had to get them to accept it on the tablet, right? Not the actual kiosk?

Yep so far it has all been on the tablet. Kiosk was never able to take NFC.

What did the tablets look like? I've seen it mentioned there is a phone attached to the back of the tablet? The ones I've seen are just ipads and on the side is a card swiping mechanism... is the NFC reader within the card swiper? Thanks... just looking to have some more info to argue with the VZW employees since they all staunchly say "No apple pay" and won't even let me attempt.

As far as I have seen. There are two types of tablets that they have in the store. One is with NFC and one is without NFC. Typically when I go in I would have to wait for a few minutes because there are fewer tablets with NFC. The ones with NFC will have a bump on the back of the tablet, I can't recall if it has the typical NFC logo on the back of the bump, but if you get them to flip it over you can see the bump and a strip of led channel (because typically when you use NFC, 4 LEDs will lit up as notification). It's rather easy to spot them, if you can get a good look at the tablet. But it's true that most of the tablet will be without NFC terminal.

I find it ironic that when you walk into Verizon store you see the advertise to use Google Pay (tap and pay), but it doesn't actually work (or in your case, "We don't support NFC....."). Also, you want to make sure this is an actual Verizon store, and not one of those 3rd party stores. You can find a list of the stores from the Verizon website. If one store doesn't let you do it, go and try a different store. Hope that helps.

Did you actually get to prepay? I asked them if I can throw another 2k for any future payment but they told me no...haha.

I live in NoVA and both stores I tried it didn't work :( I was hoping to get some more spend on my Discover card.

What was the story? Do they even have the particular tablet? If they don't then there really isn't much you can do. But if they do, I bet they work but they are just too lazy to want to try with you.
