Why is Apple Pay branded as Apple Pay by retailers and banks when all it is it’s just contactless payment, no different to any other company’s contactless payment? Why can’t it just be called contactless payment?

It’s an entire service + tokenisation technology offered and branded by Apple.

Why should Apple be left out? Seen Google Pay branding on scanners. And Mastercard's system. And we also have Samsung Pay out there. Microsoft Pay. Et. al. All basically the same, different implementations.
