I have a couple of credit cards that won't add to Apple Pay.

My biggest issue is my Dort Federal Credit Union Visa Debit Card, I have been unable to add this card for over four months and my credit union says its a Visa issue and they have not resolved it yet. Don't know if that's true or there is some sort of underlying problem preventing the card from installing for some people (example: configuring a new phone from an icloud backup) and thats why there has been no resolution?

The craziness of being told to contact your card issuer, contact Apple, contact Visa and nobody having ownership of the problem is just a nightmare!

Here are a couple of scenarios I have had:

Kohls Charge:

I added Kohl's to my wallet, it required me to call in for verification, no other options. I tried calling in but was on hold for an hour and gave up. My wife then added my Kohl's charge to her wallet and a verification code was texted to my phone. We entered the verification code and my Khols card was active in her wallet.

I called the verification number the next morning and Kohls said they had to escalate my verification to a different department and I would receive a call in a few days. I received a call from the Fraud Department and they said my card was good to go and I could add it to my wallet. (Then why did it add to my wifes with no issues? Of course Kohls did not have an answer. My Kohl's card is now verified in wallet.

Capital One Visa and Master Card:

Both cards will not add to my wallet, I get the message to contact card issuer for more info. I call Capital One and they had me uninstall/reinstall my Capital One app then try to add my cards but they still would not add. The representative opened a tech support ticket.

Barclay Visa Apple rewards:

Installed in wallet and allowed me to select verification through email. I received the code and card is now active.

Barclay MasterCard:

Required phone verification and after calling in and told the verification is complete, the card was still awaiting verification. I called back the next day and card is now activated in wallet.

I have tried turning off/on passcode. I have Reset All Settings.

Because some cards actually do install, I have to think its with the card issuer; however, that does not explain the Kohls scenario, that's what leads me to believe that there is something on the backend that is complicating the process for certain cards.

Has anybody resolved adding cards to Apple Pay that were refusing to add?

It was a huge PITA to add my credit union credit card to Apple Pay. The message said that you needed to call in but when you called the number it was an overseas call center that said they couldn't do it. Had to call a local branch, wait on hold for quite a while, and get someone to do it. Still didn't activate for an hour or two until I hung up.

Every card I added from Chase and Amex was automated and easy.

I'd make sure your billing addresses and phone numbers on file with those institutions match what's listed on your Apple ID exactly. Alternatively, if you change the card on file with Apple for iTunes/App Store to one that is having trouble adding and try adding it again. While I haven't had issues with mine, I think the verification process can really vary based on the issuer.

I don't have experience with their products, but I've heard that Barclays is a tad sloppy with their tech in general, so I'm not surprised there was a weird unexplained delay. Capital One seems to be overly picky about security/verification, so I'd put my money on something with your specific device setup preventing the verification process from happen.
