I currently have the IPhone 6plus and am considering getting new 6s plus. Will I have to go through the whole process of setting up cards and calling bank or will it automatically be on phone?

You would have to add the cards again. I never had to call the banks when I did this.

When I first set up Pay, I had to call my card issuer (American Express). I had to call again when I added the card to my Watch. However, after upgrading the phone, I had to re-add the card to both devices but didn't have to call them again. It may depend on the card issuer and how strict they are with the signup/enrollment process.

I use a bank where verification requires a phone call unlike some banks that use a text message.

Did you set up as new phone or restore from backup? I set my phone up as new and had re verify all my cards again. I am in the UK so that might make a difference

Doesn't matter, :apple:Pay is like finger print and must be setup again on any new iPhone.

I was thinking that it could be something do do with the device account number being reinstalled if you restore the phone from a backup.
It is hashed and stored in a chip. Also it is unique to the device. A new iPhone requires a different and new token number.

I was running iOS 9.1 b2, so I upgraded my 6S Plus to 9.1 b2, then restored from my encrypted iTunes backup. As I said, I did have to add the cards to Pay again, but I did not have to contact my card issuer and go through that verification process.

I just posted a new thread with my experience here.....not having successfully found this one. Of the three cards, one I had to call the credit union (which took me through phone tree ping pong hell) and one got hosed in the transfer and the bank couldn't figure it out. In the end I had to delete from the phone and then re-add to both. At least with that bank (Chase) I could use text message verification, so the whole process took about three minutes.

Oddly this last was with the card that appeared to have come across to the new phone without any intervention on my part. I should've been more suspicious I guess - I would've saved myself a lot of frustration.
