I’m in the U.K. Have tried unsuccessfully to use my watch to pay via Apple Pay in two different shops this morning. Both times were declined. I had to use my physical cards to pay. A few hours before I’d been able to make payment online using Apple Pay. Don’t know if there is an issue or I need to contact my bank. I have plenty of funds so not sure what’s happening.

Contact your bank.

They’re the only ones that will know why it’s being declined.

When you used your card again, did you do contactless or chip and pin?

First time I did chip and pin and then in the next store I tried contactless just to try and see what was going on. Contactless worked.

Try your Apple Pay again somewhere. Every so many transactions contactless needs to re-authorise using a chip and pin payment.

The number of payments varies, and the triggers for reauthorisation aren’t made public and vary by Bank.

Try Apple Pay again now you’ve used chip and pin, then if it doesn’t work call your banm

I will try again and if it’s still not working I will call my bank. Maybe they got their knickers in a twist because I used Apple Pay online for £400 earlier in the day. I don’t usually spend that much using Apple Pay online.
