I am unable to use apple pay as my cards are unavailable after the Big Sur update. I followed all the steps in this article and still it does not work.

Yes I booted into recovery mode and selected the full security option (it already was on) and rebooted and to no avail. This has to be a big Sur bug. I hesitate on calling support and having the tech be clueless on bugs and have me sign out of icloud, and follow other steps that have nothing to do with this bug. Anyone have any suggestions?

Solved… In my case SIP was disabled for some reason. Perhaps Big Sur forgot to enable it after the update? Because I didn't disable it, specially after the But Sur update.

Got mine to work again. Has to boot into security settings and disable external drive booting.

Boot into recovery mode and disable external drive booting. After that it will work again.

I had the same issue. In the Startup Security Utility, I already had Full Security and Disallow External Drive Booting selected, but Firmware Passord was not enabled. After enabling this Apple Pay is working again on my Early 2020 MB Air.

A bit tangentially, why Apple Pay? I have had a lot of issues on my Macs, which led me to this thread. I was thinking "OK, maybe I'll give it another try with Big Sur when I upgrade." But now I'm thinking, why? I do have the card, and can use it on my phone fine, and the number at times, so I've sort of forgotten why I considered even using it in the first place on macOS.

To avoid using the phone. But I will say that the phone is more compatible with more sites. For example some airlines will allow apple pay on the phone but not on the website from the mac desktop.

The only problem I am having is that transactions are not showing up in that window on neither of my debit or credit cards in apple pay on the mac. This may be a Big Sur bug. Its no biggie but its annoying.

I'm having this same issue and it is maddening. I'm going to check all of the suggestions in this thread. I contacted Apple Support but had to schedule a callback; Friday. :/

Can you list the steps you took to fix this problem? I'm having the same issue after upgrading 11.1 RC2 this past week. I even tried to wipe the drive and reinstall it. Weird thing is it would not even let me create a new account and I ended up doing a restore.

I don't see an option in recovery to disable drive booting?

Boot into recovery mode and from there you can disable external drive booting and the problem will be fixed. Let me know if this works.

Yes, I was able to finally fix the problem on Sunday with Configurator 2 and a secondary Mac. What an ordeal. Thanks for the help though.
