Anyone have any idea what could be wrong

Been using Amex Apple Pay for a year now with iOS 10 no issues

I get iOS 11 setup as brand new on my new iPhone 8 (I’m always doing this) make a few purchases and no notification. I open wallet, transaction is there but no notification...

Days go by and nothing

Ok so I turn off transaction history for the AMEX card and then back on again and it fixes it.

1 week later iOS 11.0.2 comes out, made a few payments today... no notification... I open wallet, no purchases been updated since this morning. I continue to use Apple Pay 5 times till the evening. Again no notifications and history not being recoreded.

So I turn off transaction history and turn it on again and it pulls from the server the list and it’s all updated. I’m betting notifications will work now too.

Who is to blame here? Amex or Apple?

But I can’t be possibly toggling off and on this constantly

Since no one else has complained about this issue yet I’m aussmjng I’m the only one

Could be AMEX as I am seeing same on my AMEX card. I do not believe I am seeing regular banner notifications, but do see the notification in the Notifications cover sheet (swipe up on the cover sheet to see the older notifications).

Prior to 11, a typical flow would be buy something with Apple Pay at store, get into car, plug phone into car stereo, unlock phone to start Music or Podcast app. At the unlock, I would usually see the transaction I just did drop down and disappear. Don't think I'm seeing this old behavior (maybe so transient the Notification, I'm just missing it).

Something to try, which I just did seeing this thread: change Wallet's notification style to "persistent". See if you get a notification that sticks. Because...

Now, there might be more of a change going on with Notifications. For example, on my iPad running v9, if an e-mail comes in while away from the device, I still get the drop-down notification upon unlock. iPhone on v11, only see the notification if using the phone. Notifications are acting as if get banners only when unlocked. Maybe also now that banners show only within X minutes of Notification generated? Another thing possibly effecting things: show on lock screen being toggled off? I keep most of my Notifications off the lock screen (eg. Mail as it is not something needing immediate action and don't want to advertise to the world my business on the lock screen; in case of Wallet, do not want to advertise my purchases).

I haven't had that issue since updating to 11 (AMEX too). I have had it happen in the past, but I can't remember what I did to fix it....

I had the same issue and fixed it by removing the AMEX Card and re-adding it.

Yes that works but after a restart of my iPhone a week later, it broke again.

Are we suppose to remove and re add cards now each time?

Sorry for dredging up this old thread...

Noticed today that I received a banner notification for an email account that I rarely use/get mail on. Difference between it and my regular Gmail accounts is that it did not have "Show in History" toggled on. Once I toggled that off on my Gmail account, and germane to this thread, Wallet, I started to receive the banner alerts once again on purchases. Bug? But that is the workaround. Unsure what the behavior is supposed to be in v11 (could not find any relevant documentation after a brief search).

Apple fixed this for me in iOS 11.1.2
Notifications started popping up again as soon as I upgraded
