Ok, I know I'm a few years too late for this but I just recently started trying Apple Pay and wow, is it incredible. It's so nice not to have to fumble through my wallet, find my card, worry about if the card reader takes chips and has to be inserted or doesn't and has to be slid instead, then wait for it to process, then if it needs a pin, enter that, and wait even longer. Apple Pay is soooo nice. Just have the Wallet app open, put your phone near the reader, and it's instantly done. No fumbling, no waiting, no entering pins, no asking for ID, just instantly done. I really hope this continues to expand to more and more merchants, because it truly is so much better than dealing with a physical debit/credit card or cash. Also, if you haven't tried it yet, please do. Don't keep missing out on it like I have been.

Not all places accept Apple Pay though, which is a shame. CVS Pharmacy and Walmart are two places I use frequently that do not.

I've taken to dedicating my secondary phone to the apps those stores use as well as other financial stuff. Since my secondary phone is a 5, I can't use Apple Pay with it. But it works just fine for Walmart Pay and CVS's systems. I also have my rewards cards on that phone since apparently Apple Wallet won't accept all rewards cards.

I thought Walmart didn't accept apple pay? I agree it is great when it works. There are places it seems to work sometimes and not others and usually with a line I don't stay and try over and over. Also, for me, it used to work at McDonalds but hasn't for a while since they changed software - works for some and not for all.
It will get better and better but so far I still need to carry the cards

Apple Pay works well with debit card & Visa but have had mixed results with Amex. Always carry backup card in case.

I try to use Walgreens instead of CVS. They take AP. I go to Target a lot, they don't. I use to take my LoopPay FOB and just hold up to terminal swipe slot and it completes transaction. My son now takes it when he goes to Krogers. LoopPay was bought by Samsung, so those phones should work at Target. My MSC chip takes 10-15 seconds to process there. My AP at Fresh Thyme/Ace Hardware or anywhere else takes less than a second. And these stores can still track my purchases. So, I don't understand why more places are not on board. Ap is best at Security also. AFAIK.

They don't.

But they accept Walmart Pay.

Walmart Pay is through their app. Attach your credit card, open the app, go to the Pay section and then use the camera to scan the QR code on their pay terminal.

It's funny, because I had one lazy ass cashier once tell me "We don't accept Walmart Pay". I was like, "Really?! I just paid with it here LAST NIGHT! You don't accept your own form of payment?!!!"

The fact I caught her out seriously embarrassed her so she punched a bunch of keys and said "Nope." I even showed her my screen which was connected and waiting on HER!

Since I was holding up the line I just pulled out my card and paid normally.

After that though I no longer contribute to paying the salaries of Walmart cashiers. I just go to their automated terminals now. Those ALWAYS accept Walmart Pay!

I haven't had any issues with Amex on Apple Pay and it's set as my primary card.

Strange.

I would stay the hell away from CVS if my health insurance didn't have them as the only pharmacy I can use. I just go there for my Rx. Way too damn expensive for anything else.

I find their employees are hit and miss also on being up to speed on WP. Getting better, I think. One pay I like is Sam's Scan & Go. Scan as you place items in cart. Pay on your phone and head to door. No lines. I hate lines--:)

I do. They are easy access for stamps for me. Have the exact toothbrush holder I use, and when out of stock at Target have one item my wife needs. That's it. Use to buy there a fair amount, not any more. Hit Target/Fresh Thyme early Sundays, get a Starbucks coffee, and take my time shopping.

Yeah…but it's weird though. Like they don't even look at their terminals. It's a GIANT QR code that pops up as the transaction starts and it says Walmart Pay right under it!

I could see them being confused if all you are presented with is the normal "Tap, slide, or insert card" screen, but again…giant QR code!

What that tells me is that it's the cashier not paying attention during training. Walmart has pushed Walmart Pay hard because they don't want to accept Apple Pay.

I usually shop early and had to wake up one or two cashiers. Looked like they were starting to nod off in front of me--:)

I asked a CVS manager why they didn't do Apple Pay and he said the official answer was that CVS required Apple to provide them the source code so they could add their own security to it so it would be really secure. I laughed. Gee trust Apple or CVS. I'm sure they wanted to add code so they could tell who was buying what which ability Apple Pay doesn't have.

UPDATE to not working at McDonalds. I went there again today to just check it out (ha,ha).
I have a debit card and recently when I tried there it would ask for my PIN - then authorizing then declined. Today, when I tried - it didn't ask for PIN - treated as a credit card and worked fine. Don't know what changed but it did work again as it used to. Using as a Debit card works elsewhere

Spot on. Apple is a trillion times more trustworthy.
