Had a new iPad Pro 12.9, folio keyboard, and Apple Pencil 2 delivered yesterday . This morning as I woke up , I wanted to play with pencil on the iPad - but it’s not responding !! It’s been on charge all night and is showing as connected to th iPad - but it is not doing anything on the screen! Ive already restarted my iPad, inpaired and paired the pencil again with no luck!

I’m wondering if anyone else has had any similar issues and if so if anyone help?very disappointed!

Thank you in advance

Mine is doing the same thing. The double tap works. Writing/erasing works very sproradically.

In a similar thread it's suspected it may be going through a firmware update and it just unresponsive temporarily. Also make sure the tip is secure and not loose.

I had same issue with a brand new, out of the box pencil2... I tightened the tip/nib, and all was fine.

Run by an apple store, and they’ll give you a brand new one. This is pretty uncommon, but there have been a few cases of them failing

My brand new Apple Pencil got flakey, worse and then died; but it showed up as connected and 100% battery.

I found that the solution for me was to completely unscrew/remove the tip and re-attach it a bit tighter. Hasn't had any problems since. Not unsurprisingly, I can 'make' it fail by increasingly unscrewing the tip (as a test). The less reliable the connection between the tip and the rest of the electronics, the worse the performance would be.
