I've been a heavy Pencil user for quite some time. While the charging process has always bugged me, this morning the little adapter thingy fell behind my desk and I hit my head reaching for it. Why can't Apple redesign this da*n thing so charging doesn't require the adapter I've nearly lost 1,743 times. I don't have this problem with my Surface pen. That thing "just works" like Apple likes to say. Highly annoying. Anyone hear of any upcoming redesign for the Pencil?

Lost my adapter also, it just walked away. They do need to rethink the charging method, its embarrassing to have a $1000 lolly pop. However I really love my Apencil for notes works great but with charging I agree with you.

Just set up your iPad with some silly slogans, throw them in Photos so you can make a slide show and act like a protester.

"Down with jerks!"
"Back in 15 minutes"
"I pooped today!"
"Sarcastic comment loading..."
You know, make it fun!

I keep the adapter permanently attached to the end of the pencil. That way there's no chance of losing it.

I lost my adapter week one. Who cares? I just plug it in straight into the iPad. It charges super fast.

Worse is that Apple could have easily placed a coil inside for wireless charging or even better it could have stuck on the "smart connector" on the iPP via magnet and charge from there. I believe the pencil was a rushed product with not much thought put into charging solutions.

I would not call the Apple Pencil a stylus because it puts all the other styluses to shame. When I refer to it, I call it “the Apple Pencil”.

Got my Apple Pencil recently for my iPP 10.5. I’m starting to become a heavy Pencil user with all the notes and drawings I make. So, I’m going to invest in this neat charging stand....

Except that it actually is.

Although it's not a stylus in the generally accepted definition. Most people consider a stylus to be a basically dumb stick with no electronics inside. A piece of plastic that you just rub across the screen. Also most of them can't be used with your nand resting on the screen. They also don't generally shift thickness automatically according to the tilt of the stylus.

That makes it a glorified stylus then. Argue semantics all you will, but I don't think Steve Jobs would have allowed it >.>

Right... and a laptop is a glorified iPad. It's a bit more than that. I'd suggest buying one and using it before making more snap judegements.

I do agree with you that Steve would have initially rejected the Pencil. But he might have changed his mind. Remember, there are many times Steve outright rejected things that he later wholeheartedly embraced.

Tell that to the Newton ;)

(Yes I know he wasn't there for its creation but he was the one who shut down development)

Your opinion is not the 'generally accepted definition'.
