Apple Pencil won't charge

I hadn't used the pencil in a while, so when I broke it out, it was dead. So I plugged it into my lightning cable overnight. This morning went to use it and was still on 0%. When I checked Bluetooth, it said to plug it into the iPad which it then connected and said charging. But, it stays at 0%
Chatted with apple support on twitter and eventually said to take it to the store.

Had the exact same issue

went in store and they had to order a new one in and sent the old one back.
