So I just figured out that the telephone guy that I ordered my MBP through screwed me pretty decently. I was really hoping to get the computer by today so I would have it for college orientation which I leave for today, but when I called I was told by him that they wouldn't have them in Apple retail stores for at least another week or two, which is a total lie I just found out. He also put me in for a 2.4 ghz MBP when I specifically said I wanted a 2.2 because I couldn't afford the 2.4, and I am pretty sure he ****ed up the engraving on my Video Ipod. I am going to have fun calling and complaining when I get the stuff.

Don't wait until you get the stuff...call now. It's not too late to change the order.

how on earth did the 2.2/2.4 mix-up occur...? he would have had to tell you the price being charged, and you would have noticed then...

I was told the total was somewhere along the lines of $2569.75 with the printer, Ipod, and applecare, but then my credit card bill was like $3100ish...not cool. I got the 2.4/2.2 mixup fixed, but I am just concerned about the Ipod engraving...I will call today, but I am still incredibly pissed off that I was lied to about the stock status.

Um... unless you're going to a service academy, you'll find very little use for a laptop at most college summer orientations, and if you are going to a service academy, plebe summer is mostly about PT and mindset.

Can't you just refuse to sign for the shipment?

No, I am not going to a service academy, but the tech office asks that you bring it so they can set it up for the network instead of when you come at the fall, which would cause a day wait or so because instead of it being 500 or so at orientation per 2 day session, it is like 5000 all at once....Oh well.

You may not have been lied to. Some stores have them, some don't. If it's that big of a deal, cancel the order and go pick one up at the store.

Just trying to be helpful here: the printer rebate and iPod rebates are rebates, and not discounted at time of purchase. Is that causing you confusion on your final costs?
There's no way the 2.2 + printer + iPod = $3100 with student pricing (the 2.2 is about $1900 after taxes).

To the OP: call now, not later. Verify the engraving, and notify them of the problem with your CC. Hell, if you're firm, but polite in explaining the inconvenience and the CC screw up, they'll probably discount ya a bit and throw in expedited shipping (pretty standard "okay still love us" practice by Apple).
