Hello,

I've decided to take my iPhone 6 back to an Apple Store this week as it is now suffering from "front camera-gate" symptoms; but much worse than other's I've seen around.

They may, of course, just swap the front screen. Alternatively though they may offer me a replacement phone.

Now, bearing in mind I'm on the latest beta and only backed up via iCloud - what will happen if they give me a phone with 8.4/8.4.1 on it? Will my iCloud backup be compatible?

Cheers :)

There is no Front Camera-Gate on the iphone 6.

The Recall is for the back camera of some iPhone 6+ models.

your iCloud backup wont work. I just got my phone replaced and was in the same situation. However I just added the public beta to the new phone and was able to back up with no problem.

You can update your phone to the latest beta -> do a reset and erase all data -> then you will be able to restore from iCloud.

I don't think they're referring to the back camera recall. I think they're talking about the issue where the front camera moves...I read about it awhile ago, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I had to change two phones because they just kept moving. The first time it was half-way down. The first employee told me that the same thing happened to his phone and he brought it up at some training in Cupertino. He said they were aware of the problem. The second employee almost didn't replace it since it was a "cosmetic thing." My current phone has had no movement of the front camera over the last few months so maybe they resolved the issue for later productions.

Thanks for the replies folks. Much appreciated. I'm at the Apple store tomorrow so we'll see what they say :)

This is what I'm worried about. The missus and I are both going this Sunday to get our phones swapped out as both of our cameras have shifted. Separate appointments so a different genius will see us I suppose.
