Hi,

I am a recent Mac user but a very long iPhone user. I take pictures nearly daily and all my photos are currently on Microsoft OneDrive. The synchronization process is fast, transparent and does not seem to eat battery.
However, I'm no more satisfy with OneDrive. Storing pictures is the only task it excels but viewing or searching among files is a pain. It also lacks face recognition. One good point is that all the pictures are stored following a structure Year/Month.
I envisage to switch all my pictures to Apple Photos. However, from my first searches, I see that the pictures in Apple Photos are stored in a very different way and it will be difficult to come back to the previously mentioned folder structure.

Any comments?

That's correct. Apple photos stores them in a container structure and mixes the photos up in its own structure which is hard to make sense off.

I keep 2 copies of my photos.

1. in the year month structure on my internal drive like you do now and update accordingly.

2. I then use apple photos but just let them live in the cloud and keep it separate from step 1.
