Comparing US pricing on devices with minimum RAM (which is higher for the M4 than the M2), and the the same storage:

M4 Mini vs M2 Mini: Same price.

M4 Pro Mini vs. M2 Pro Mini, lower-end Pro chip: M4 is $100 more.

M4 Pro Mini vs. M2 Pro Mini, higher-end Pro chip: Same price.

And so it should be cheaper. You're also getting a lot less aluminium for your money.

The same applies with UK pricing for the iMac and Macbook Pro.

The M3 iMac with 16GB RAM and 2TB SSD was £2649, the M4 iMac with 16GB RAM and 2TB SSD is now £2349.

The M4 Pro Macbook with 14/20 cores and 24GB RAM is £100 cheaper than the M2 Pro Macbook with 12/18 cores and 18GB RAM.

The GBP has appreciated by roughly 6% over the dollar, hence priced in GBP the price has come down. The dollar pricing is used to price in other currencies
