Apple Pro Display XDR still limited to 3008X1692 resolution with m1 max 14 inch

Greetings,

I am having issue with my Pro Display XDR. I saw in some other forums new m1 pro and m1 max chips are showing extra scaled resolutions like intel Macs before and issue is resolved with external monitors like LG 5k.

I bought the 14 inch m1 max as my m1 MacBook Pro had that limitation. But even with m1 max I am still seeing the same 3008X1692 resolution on my Pro Display XDR. It shows only monitor full resolution as next option.

If any one has Pro Display XDR can you please check this. I am not sure what to do. Is this only a Pro Display XDR limitation now. Very frustrating Apple's one display doesn't support higher resolution.

Try SwitchResX or BetterDummy - and please let us know what resolutions are enabled!

Can you get hidpi with switchresx or better dummy?

I got to borrow an M1. Looks like BetterDummy enables pretty much any resolution you want on it. SwitchResX, less so, but I still had some success with it.

I can confirm that with Pro Display XDR On M1 MAX, SwitchresX does not allow 'custom resolutions' or HiDPI on certain resolutions currently (like 4k.) However installing BetterDummy enables almost any resolution with HiDPI. Once installed switchresx then is able to display that option. No issues so far, just don't know if mirroring w/ betterdummy affects overall performance.
