No matter you have previous safari installed or not, apple's software update (which, my impression, is auto installed when you install iTunes/Quicktime) will remind you there is something need to "update", and that is safari!
Well, I guess if apple can't bundle its app to windows as deep as IE, and it doesn't want to compete from start neither....this semi-bundle is a good way to go... creating a small apple ecosystem inside windows....
