Been applehead since 1985.

Moved consistently along as upgrades and hardware evolved.

Now, I am finding the 10.7.3 world as buggy as the first PC I used (it was what caused me to run to apple).

My apple id password, which I have tried to keep constant, is rejected regularly even tho it worked fine for several months.

Now icloud indiscriminately drops devices from the fold (thereby defeating the purpose). Many more examples of roughness at the edges!

I get the feeling apple has not scaled well, has under-shot its attempt to envevlope the entire world.

The result is a wake of flakey underlying software infrastructure. Global applications that do not work consistently.

I have always been able to let my creative juices flow because apple provided a bulletproof platform which required very little, if any, maintenance.

Now I spend many cycles starting from scratch just to get back to square one (sq1).

The support is a hapless maze and the company is as impregnable as the pentagon (actually moreso!).

Anyone else feel this way?

Where should we take our business?

Is there someone new on the horizon?

I am about ready.

One of the biggest cause of problems with iCloud and iTunes Match and all the "ecosystem" is that you have to have the cookies enables in Safari for them to work right.
It is not clearly stated anywhere, give it a try and see for yourself that after allowing Apple marketing give you cookies many things start to work as intended.

Therefore you are right to certain extent, the do whatever you wanted with your Mac is slowly becoming more and more restricted, and now also the Mac is becoming a really closed system that only works if you pay and play the game.

Having been a serious Apple computer user for work & personal since 1991, I too have some concerns. Being one who embraces change, creativity, and rapid development, I find this a very interesting time in Apples history.

With Apple having migrated from a high tech computer manufacturer to a fiercely focused consumer electronics company, it's been quite a transition.

Now focused on world domination, in control of every aspect of "the experience" only time will tell how things play out.

With the recent rumors of Apples intent on establishing themselves as a wireless carrier to compete with the others, one word comes to mind.

Monopoly.

Mountain Lion was the final nail in the coffin for Apple from me. I'll keep my current Macs until I need to upgrade, but when I do I will not be going to the Apple store. The premium you pay is no longer bringing any benefits since the software isn't any better and on the desktop side Apple is literally years behind (Mac Pro).

Sometimes, I find it illuminating to look at previous posts someone has made...

@ Bucharoo1

I wrote something similar one year ago. Since then I've been happily using my Mac, but absolutely nothing has happened on the Mac scene. I still run Snow Leopard, and from what I read it seems to be a good idea.

On the other hand I feel like you do. This will probably be my last Apple products. I got a little annoyed when my iPhone 3G, which at that time was less than a year old, suddenly couldn't get the latest iOS. Then SJ died, and now we're back to Pepsi days.

I wish there would come a new Jobs/Wozniak/Tramiel type of person and revolutionize the market. It's not gonna be Samsung. It might be clever to copy everything Apple does, but it's not very innovative. Likewise with Balmer.

Maybe it's time to drop the computer and go back to nature... ;)

Cheers
