The screen technology between the 1st and 2nd gen 12.9 is the big change here....

Do you need 128 GB? Personally I’d go for the 64GB 2nd gen.

Depending on your needs, OP, I'd agree with the 2nd poster: The display is a huge upgrade.

That said, if you do not anticipate using the Pencil or needing the latest gen iPP, I'd say wait for sales from Best Buy. They will definitely go lower on a new 1st gen than Apple's refurbished.
