Apple Remote and Olevia TV - Ack!

Hi all -

So i have an Olevia 37" LCD TV, and a MBP. I often hook my MBP up to the TV via DVI as an external monitor in order to watch media.

But there's a problem. The remote that came with the MBP, whenever I press any button on it, turns my TV off.

I've done a bit of research, and found one thread on another forum which basically said that the Olevia TV must be using a similar IR code to the remote (see it here: http://www.123macmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=106986&sid=d50edab2f1329324d2d5acee46bd24a7)

is there ANYTHING I can do? Yes, I have already paired the remote with the computer. No change.
