apple remote and players

I guys, i'm a newbie in the macworld so...

1) I wish to know if the apple remote can controle other programs such VLC when I'm watching movies...

2) And the front row will only run with quick time??Can I choose wish player to use with the front row??

3) And for last it's possible to add subtitles to quick time player when I'm watching videos (such .avi file format)

yes, the remote can control VLC (you know, you could have just tried it instead of waiting for a reply here..)

Front Row can only use Quicktime

dunno about subtitles

I dont know about the remote thing..but about the subtitles...thers this freeware that palys music,videos and supports subtitles aswell..
you have to put the subtitle file and movie file in the same folder..and both of them must have the same name(example: Saw3.avi & saw3.srt) so the player shows the subtitles instantely... give it a shot
Note: i dont have a mac currently so any questions about the programme i think you shall see the support page in their website >_<

I haven't try the remote cause my macbook hasn't arrived yet, maybe next week...

Another question, if I update the quick time player to the pro version it will be able to support subtitles and watch videos with subtitles in front row??
