i dont get how to make it work where do i put in the pass code? it says open itunes and click devices and select my phone but devices never show up unless my phones in the doc. So i though my phone has to be in the doc but there is still no place to put in the code.

What am i missing

make sure your computer and phone are on the same wireless network. if they are your phone should show up in the sidebar of itunes. then click it and put in the password. the important part here is being on the same network

I am having an issue with this app as well. Both the iPhone and the iMac are on the same network (and airport express), and iMac is airtunesing (it's a word now) to the same airport express. When i get the passkey prompt, the iphone immediately pops up in itunes, I put the passcode into itunes, and then the iPhone disippears from the devices list and refuses to connect to my library. If it's any consolation, I have iTunes set to share my entire library. It's so simple, it should work without any issues!

I'm guessing it has to do with range issues.
It's supposed to let you control your iTunes library from anywhere in your home. I'm using it right now, and it's very very fast. There's virtually no lag between my Mac and iPhone when I change a song or adjust volume. I'm not sure, but I don't think a bluetooth connection would be very efficient.

This is really easy to do in Leopard now that I've had a chance to check it out.

1) Turn on Airport
2) Open up Network Preferences
3) In the Network Name dropdown box, select Create Network
4) Name it whatever you want, I would put a password on it to.
5) Have your iPhone connect to that.
6) Your Remote should work perfectly now

If you could play your rented movies with it for your apple TV since Jobbs said all our customers want in apple TV is "movies, movies, movies". Not all of us use handbrake and buy our movies, the thing is worthless, Another flop in my opinion. I bought the Apple TV just to download HD movies.

I'm having the same problem, although it seems that my computer is blocking remote access from the phone when I check the network activity in log viewer.
Edit:I had to make an exception for itunes in the built in firewall

does the wi-fi network need to be coming from an Apple wifi router? Both my iphone and macbook are on the same network, but it is not appearing in my itunes and I have 7.7 and 2.0.

mine works fine but i dont have a macbook or anything and my wireless is through AT&T... that being said when u get the code from your phone..in itunes u should have 2 iphone tabs...click on the second one and the code screen should pop up...least that's how it worked on mine!

Think I've found the answer to my problem with iTunes not seeing my iPhone when trying to use Remote. The support pages on the Apple website are now working and it says....

"Remote needs to be connected via Wi-Fi to the same local network that iTunes or Apple TV is connected to in order to pair and control those libraries. You can determine if your devices are on the same local network if their network configuration specifies the same router IP address. The router address will be a set of 4 numbers separated by periods"

My problem is that my PowerMac is connected to my router via ethernet and my iPhone is via Wifi from the same router. So does that mean that it will only work if both are connected via wifi???

I had the same problem. Restarting iTunes seems to fix it.

This is the same problem I'm having. When I enter the passcode it instantly says the two are paired, but it never connects to the Library, just gives up. My Wi-Fi is an Airport Express.

A simple idea that is executed precisely as the title describes. Extremely easy to set up, for both iTunes and Apple TV; even allows the selection of remote speakers.

iTunes on a mac mini, an Apple TV and speakers connected to an airport express all controlled effortlessly from anywhere in the house. I would have paid a lot of money for this functionality.

I agree. It is f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c. Do I want it to be inclusive of rented movies? Sure, and no doubt that it will be, along with other things.

Perhaps this has been said before, but what I think people are missing is that if you combine Remote with a few Airport Expresses and powered speakers, you can send music throughout your house/apartment/workplace without a single wire in the wall. I spent a ridiculous amount of money in the early 2000s putting wires in the walls, installing speakers in the walls/ceilings, getting a big @ss universal remote and splitter thing to send music to all of those rooms. You can now accomplish the same thing with a free application, three or four used Airport Expresses and speaker sets that you probably already own, tucked away in a closet somewhere.

I think Remote is great, and look forward to it being even greater one day.
