I downloaded this on my iphone. My phone is connected to my wi-fi network and my windows PC is also connected to the same network via network cable.

When I open Itunes, I do not see my device listed. I have the box checked to search for iphones and itouches using remote under preferences in itunes.

Anyone have a tip on how to fix this?

Okay now I got itunes to "see" my iphone and I can play music over the remote, but the sound comes from my systems speakers.

Is there a way to listen to music from the "puter via my earbuds on my iphone?

Yes there is. Look up Airfoil and Airfoil Speakers Touch.

Search for AirPhones in the App Store.
Apple's Remote app isn't to stream music to your iPhone. It's a remote. It controls your computer's iTunes library.

Does a TV remote stream video to it? Nope.
Same with Apple's Remote app.

There is no way I know of to stream music from mac/itunes to the iphone/ipod earphones.

The remote app for the iphone/ipod is there to control - from a distance - your mac/pc based itunes music application.
