Apple Remote for MacBook Air 13''

I just bought the Apple Remote for my new MacBook Air and it doesn't work.

Does anyone know the Apple Remote works for the MacBook Air 13"?

it would need an IR sensor for the remote to work...which they left off the air...so it wont work at all
