Apple Remote Loop + AirPods = ?

Can anyone test this out? I don’t own a Loop.

I know the Loop doesn’t work with iPhone or iPad, but, since the AirPods’ charging case, like the Siri Remote, only has a “dumb” charging Lightning port, there’s some hope that it’s sort of designed in the same way and the hooks attach properly.

Could then be used to mod the Loop into a keychain holder or the likes, but I digress.

I have a Loop for the apple tv, but I have not received my AirPods yet. I can try it once I get mine.
