I can not get the Apple Remote working with my new MBP. I tried pairing it with the MBP but nothing happened. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Make sure another apple remote is not paired with the machine. Go to system prefs in the security pane and click to unpair the remote.

I found this in troubleshooting

Troubleshooting the Apple Remote

What the problem turned out to be was the battery was dead. The laptop is only two days old so I figured it would of had a charge but I guess not. One this interesting in the article is that the built-in iSight will pickup the IR signal that emits from a remote.
