Apple remote test

I have added a second hard disk to my 2011 mac mini by using the Disk Double kit. In the process I am not sure if I have damaged the IR receiver. I do not have the apple remote. How can I check if the Infra red is still working?

see if your power led is still working, those 2 are on the same connector.

When I put on mac mini the power led is lit up. However this does not confirm that the fact whether the infra red remote will function on not since it is a common light for both functions. Kindly let me know if you can draw some other inference from this fact.

Go into System Report - USB and see if it lists IR Receiver as one of the devices. That would confirm that it is wired. Still might not work if you busted the sensor.
