Apple replaced my 15.4 MBP 2.0Ghz CD, 2Gb, 100Gb HD, 256MB X1600 with 15.4 MBP 2.33Ghz C2D, 2Gb, 120Gb HD, 256MB X1600.

I had it sincec last April but it lately I started having screen problems (4 grey spot, white line and 4 dead pixels). Took it to Apple Store last thursday and had it back with a new screen on friday. Worked fine until this monday when I got vertical lines and one horizontal. Took it in and the screen replaced the same day, but when I went to pick it up it turned out that the machine won't go to sleep or stay on for longer than 5 minutes. Received a call from Apple today and was told that the logic board was damaged during the second repair and the new one with all the data transferred from the old one is waiting for me at the store. Seems to be perfect, fingers crossed :)

Two repairs and a replacement in one week!! Amazing!!!

This goes to show that Apple has one of the best customer service in the world.

Yeah, the customer service people work really hard to make up for the enormous inconvenience poor quality and poor quality control causes customers. I don't know if that's so great, and certainly to stretch it 'to the world' is pushing it.

Are you talking about Intel Macs? If so, Intel Macs today are fine and don't have a lot of problems.

I have had great experiences with Apple's customer service also. Alot better than the experiences with Compaq years ago. Have had 0 problems with my Intel Mac's except for cosmetic issues.

Unless, of course, they can find any reason to place the blame on you for the poor quality control... like say, you accidentally tell them that you replaced the hard drive in it yourself. Then it's all your fault

I hope you're joking? I've had so many defective macbook pros and macbook over the past year that I can't count them anymore (and I'm not exaggerating)! I'm picky, but Apple wouldn't have replaced so many if they didn't agree. They even upgraded me for free from a 15" to a !7" MBP. Quality control of apple laptops is lousy or non-existend. Buying a macbook/mbp is a hit-or-miss thing. Yesterday when I was at B&H I saw a pretty decent 15" MBP display for the first time (I've been looking at them since spring last year so I have a broad sample base) - an 09c57! Yet last week, I was using my friend's MBP with the 'same' display and it was outrageously bad with murky whites, poor lots of grain, poor viewing angles.

Its a bummer that you had to go through with all that crap, but it worked out well in the end. Congrats on the upgrade!

I had some bad service before with some iPod's but this time Apple have been good to me to. They replaced my 2.0ghz 256vram MBP last November only after going in for service once. Although there was a lot of things wrong with it when it went in the first time when i got it back it was faulty straight out of the box and i complained and they agreed to send me a brand new one.

They sent me the wrong model MBP first and then that had to go back and by then the C2D models came out and i was upgraded to one of those. I would have been ok with a 2.16 256vram CD as they had stopped making the CD 2.0 256 vram but the upgrade of course to the 2.33 C2D was really appreciated.

They let me use the incorrect CD MBP that was sent out to me until my C2D MBP arrived. They would have left it here indefinitely with me (it has been here 4-5 months in all) if i had not reminded them to come and pick it up. I reminded them four times to come and pick it up and the final last reminder i sent them just under a month ago they appear to have acted on it and a courier company phoned when i was out the other day to arrange collection. I guess that i am just too honest and i had to try and get it back to them it was the right thing to do and all that.

The MBP 2.0ghz 256 is only worth like a £1,000-£1,100 now and i sold my 2.33 C2D for £1,550 and i have been using the CD MBP. When that goes maybe next week if somebody comes to collect it then i will have to use my mum's laptop until Apple refresh their MBP line and i will buy again.

Yes i would say that i had very good customer service this time.

I am in UK.

I was referring to the the poster who wrote: "This goes to show that Apple has one of the best customer service in the world". Apple may have great service, but to extend it to say that it's ' one of the best in the world' when one is talking about one's experience in the U.S. is pushing it too far. I've had amazing customer service that equals Apple's in Sweden, England and even Taiwan and China and I would never generalise about how they compare with the rest of the world because I simply don't know. How could I?

I guess I'm tired of people in the U.S. always conflating the United States with 'the world'. Same phenomenon in China, actually.
