Haha, I'm not really getting you. I'm assuming you got your white iMac days before the Al iMacs, and you returned it, got that.

Now what is that you want to do now? You can't return iMacs after 14 days of buying it. Though you could get away with it if you have a problem on your imac that no matter how many times you bring it in to get it fixed, and it won't, you could return it then, and they will give you some cash.

(after reading it, it is confusing.....here goes.)

i bought the white imac almost immediately after it was announced. i had it for about 1 yr.....the lcd went out on it. sent it in, it was replaced (the lcd)
after about 5 more months....the lcd began to go out on it again. (we are current now to last week) i called and complained......''this is the second time i've dealt with this....it took you 3 weeks to fix it the last time.....etc'')

they offered to replace it with a comparable model....the new 2.4 alum.

they are shipping it as we speak.

now, on the replacement. i get the replacement today....and say tomorrow, or next tuesday, they announce the new imacs.

since what i have is an apple replacement....with no store receipt....would i be able to take it back and exchange it for a new one....or return it for refund and put that money towards a new one???

not sure how it works.

Ahh, I understand, try calling them, I'm not really sure about this, but I think so.

If you've lost your paper receipt but have purchased the system via a real walk-in store, chances are they'll have your receipt on their system. Since all serial numbers are logged at the time of purchase. If you have your credit card, that would help too!!

You had the original one for a year and the 2.4GHz was a replacement for your original, defective one, right? I don't see how they would let you swap that out for a brand new, updated one, considering your purchase was a long time ago and they've already given you an upgrade to make up for your earlier problems.

AFAIK, the 14 day policy applies to purchases only. I don't think you'll be able to return or exchange a replacement unit that's fixing an issue with an older Mac.

Edit: yeah, what IgnatiusTheKing said. :)

no.
my 2.16 was new. screen went bad.
repaired the screen.....it went bad again.

NOW they are replacing it with a 2.4.....which i should receive today or tomorrow.

i have no receipt of purchase....as the computer i'm getting is a replacement from applecare. i have the receipt of my old one, but thats almost 2 years old....but it's also the only 'purchase' receipt i have.

so i guess my concise questions are...

Can an apple "customer satisfaction" replacement machine be returned or exchanged....in an apple store...within the 14 day period??

or, does this only apple to online/ in-store.....new machine purchases?

thanks for all of the help guys.

Uhm no. This machine isn't new. This is a replacement machine for a year+ old machine. You will not get an extension on the warranty - this was a repair.

Be thankful you go this - that's a good upgrade for you :)

though you started off like a sarcastic jerk....you finished well with the smiley.

i appreciate the info. just wasn't sure about the policy regarding this. i figured it would be TOO much of them to give me big upgrade from my 2.16....and then expect it to be ok to return for cash or trade....this is why i checked.

thanks again

Well, all I can say is, you will love your new imac.

thanks...i'm hoping so....

i'm nervous about all of the issues with screens, etc.
i've got nothing to lose i suppose. new applecare with the new machine.
new machine, faster machine, better graph. card, went with the wireless mouse this time, it's going to be nice.
can't wait.
hopefully all is well and fedex didn't use it for a shotput or anything.

No...

No, the 14 day return window only applies to purchases, not warranty replacements. Take your upgrade model and be happy with it.

I'll tack onto this instead of starting a new thread. I know if you buy online you have to send the item back through the mail if you want to return the item.

However, if there is a problem with the item, will an Apple store issue you an exchange on the spot? Or does anything have to be mailed back? I cannot tell from the information on the website, and any employees in the store that I asked seemed to think that you could address the issue through the store vice online.
