I have already filled out the online applications necessary and know that getting this job can get competitive. Would it be a good idea to go to the store myself and ask for the manager so I can introduce myself or will that just do nothing? If you work at an Apple retail store or have worked at one, please tell me whether this would be at all effective. if you do not have any experience with the hiring process, what is your opinion on the situation.

Do it - I got to the 2nd interview because of it (from just an online app). Bring copies of your resume and a cover letter to hand to them, as well as letters of recommendation.

I didn't get the job, I believe, do to the fact I asked a question too early, or they did a credit check and didn't like what they saw.

Doesn't matter anymore - the retail job I have now is the most awesome and much better!

Good luck to you!

I have the resume and cover letter but do I really need the letters of recommendation? If they want referrals I would supply them with that but they never asked for that during the application.

Good luck! I signed up on the Apple job site in November 2008 and didn't get contacted until July 2009.

So this morning I went to both of the stores I applied to. I think it may have paid off at one of the stores but this was my experience.

Apple Store #1: The staff there was super friendly and immediately bought me over to the assistant manager since they could not find the manager. He seemed really nice and took down my name. Multiple staff members told me since the iPad just released they do need more staff and they think I will hear from them in about a week.

Apple Store #2: Since this one is in a mall, it was five times more crowded and the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. I met the manager who was friendly but probably didn't have the time to speak with me. I found out that a separate hiring manager looks at my application. They also told me this at store #1.
