I own an iPad Air 2 and the internal battery is starting to show signs of age. It doesn’t hold a charge as well as it did in the past.

Would an Apple retail store replace the battery while I wait or will they force me to drop it off and pick it up at a later date ?

The iPad warranty expired a long time ago so this will be a customer pay battery replacement.

Thank you !!!

Depends on the stock at that store. If there’s battery available to replace onsite then they’ll get it sorted within 2-3 hours, if not then most likely next business day.

Did you get your battery replaced? Just curious?

You know I have a old Air 2 the battery failed on. Curious how this worked out too

I took my iPad air 2 to an Apple premium reseller to have the battery replaced because it has degraded to only 43% of the original capacity and they told me that this iPad's battery can't be replaced but they can give me the same iPad with a fresh battery for 355€.

Wow, this looks like a scam to me. Apple only charges $99 for battery replacement service and if they are unable to replace it, they will give an equivalent iPad instead. Go figure

I wasn't expecting a premium reseller to try to scam me... guess I'll have to drive to the nearest real Apple store.

Resellers (premium or not) generally can't replace iPhone/iPad batteries.

They're not Apple either so they can't take your old Air 2, refurbish it and sell as an Apple-certified refurb. That's how Apple can offer $99 battery replacement even if they just outright give you a replacement iPad.

Apple does not replace iPad batteries they replace the whole unit at the battery price if it shows its failing

Out-of-warranty battery service cost:
All iPad models: $99
