There were 45 finalists across 12 categories, and 17 winners were ultimately selected. Apple said the awards recognize developers who delivered the "highest levels of user experience, design, and innovation" on the App Store this year.

"We are thrilled to honor this impressive group of developers who are harnessing the power of Apple devices and technology to deliver experiences that enrich the lives of users and have a profound impact on their communities," said Apple CEO Tim Cook. "The remarkable achievements of this year's winners demonstrate the incredible ingenuity that can be unlocked through apps."

Kino was released earlier this year by Lux, the makers of the popular iPhone camera app Halide.

Someone at Apple sure does love Lumy. They’ve been featuring it in various capacities for years. (It’s a lovely little app.)

Some ex-customers of Adobe might have something to say about awarding them the best Mac app of the year in light of their charging practices. Not sure if Apple read the room on this one.

I don't get Lightroom as the Mac app of the year. Its a very unMac app. Surely there are apps out there are other creative apps out there which make better use of the MacOS platform.

Moises was an absolute game changer for musicians. Not sure why they gave it the best iPad app, I would bet most people are using their iPhones for this but whatever.

Balatro is incredibly, fiendishly addictive. If you value your time do not play it.

Yep it’s now an essential part of my workflow, both for learning material and teaching. But, on the iPhone not the iPad!

Apple Vision Pro app of the year... Can we stop trying to make Vision Pro a thing?

Good to see the winners this year. Kino from Halide is a good app. Not so sure of the best games of the year.

Having been through the list I was also impressed by Kino & I think I'll give it a go to venture beyond still photography with my iPhone.
