I live in Silicon Valley (Bay Area). We pronounce the "con" in "silicon" as something like "con man". Apple has changed it to something like "ken".

I hate you Apple.

Won‘t we just start saying M1 and “Apple M series“ now instead of “Apple Silicon”. We never called the A series chips “Apple Silicon”. I feel like that was just meant to be a placeholder term until the announcement.

Anyway, that‘s what I’m doing.

Silly-con does sound ridiculous, like someone with a tenuous grasp of Chemistry. Although not as bad as calling it silicone, I guess...

Apple right, as not unusual, but since they're using it to name their product they get to choose both the spelling and the pronunciation. Like Lloyds of London...
