This may be old news to some of you, but I just came across this interesting site. It tracks the accuracy of the Apple leakers:

1. CoinX: 95.2% accurate
2. The Information: 90% accurate
3. L0vetodream: 89.2% accurate
4. Mark Gurman: 86.7% accurate
5. OnLeaks: 78.6% accurate
6. Jon Prosser: 77.8% accurate
7. The Wall Street Journal: 76.7% accurate
8. Ming-Chi Kuo: 76.4% accurate
9. 9to5Mac: 75.1% accurate
10. Macotakara: 67.4% accurate
11. MacRumors: 63.6% accurate
12. Sonny Dickson: 62.5% accurate
13. DigiTimes: 61% accurate
14. Barclays: 57.9% accurate
15. The Verifier: 51.4% accurate
16. Max Weinbach: 39.1% accurate
17. Economic Daily News: 38.2% accurate

I had come to trust CoinX and L0vetodream, and also to Mark Gurman to a lesser extent. I was not aware of The Information.

Most all of these "leakers" share their leaks just days before a product is announced - by which time the supply chain has all but confirmed it anyway. A good portion also "leak" information that is fairly obvious direction by Apple... meaning there's more than a 50% chance the "leak" is accurate simply by looking at Apple's history and what they've done with other/similar products (slimmer bezel-type leaks).

I like reading the rumors just like everyone else here. But it's extremely rare that I come across one that I hadn't already assumed was going to happen anyway. The whole "services bundle" rumor for example. Who didn't just assume Apple would eventually offer a bundle of the services? I knew that years ago. It probably would have happened sooner were it not for some circumstances outside Apple's control.

Prosser is quickly falling down the list. It sure seems like he had a few good pieces of inside info, and then milked it for all it was worth. However, after his solid info dried up, he tried some guessing and flamed out.

Too bad CoinX hasn't commented since March. Has his or her info dried up too?

You can be digging leaks yourself, but at least it need Sina Weibo, Zhidemai account where most of resources posted there, and flocks around Chinese based tech forums, and fluently read Hanzi characters.

Supply chain might knowing more, but as just normal internet surfer, digging through Chinese forums are the more reasonable way to hunting rumors.
