iPhone 8/Plus Apple SD Card Reader A1595

I’m in need of a card reader for my iPhone 8 while on the road. I’m looking at the model A1595. I’ve heard stories that after updating to iOS 12.1.4 that it stopped working.

Has anyone had experience with this reader that could comment?
