I think this is good news. Has anyone else had their replacement delayed?

returned &replacement requested 4/16
est delivery apr 24-28 -- DELAYED

this is very peculiar and I am unsure of what to think about it, but I believe it's good news. It could mean that a hardware fix has been found.

Could be. I just had my iMac 4850 delivered today and its been running for hours with everything I can throw at it, more stuff than I would do normally, without issue, so maybe they are fixing the new ones.

Or it could just be that they ran out of 4850's and stock didn't come in when they expected.

Lets hope its because its fixed though.

Let's not forget that 42.99% of all 4850 iMacs are not freezing according to the non-scientific poll here.

Haha, yeah, I have been telling myself that since I started reading this stuff. I mean the reason so many people post about it is because they have the problem, probably not a ton of happy iMac 4850 owners out there trolling the forums to find a fix for their perfect machine.

Incorrect, there have been posters indicating they have still frozen, albeit in smaller numbers, but please be factual when speaking.

Technically, avihappy is correct, since he said "you may never notice the problem." Nothing factually wrong about his statement because he didn't say "will never" notice the problem.

Point is someone can easily be misled into thinking this issue is not occurring at all for Ethernet users, if you're going to hint that it "may" not be a problem, at least include that it has been a problem for some.

Strange that yours was delayed. I don't know how many factories are preparing these, but they had to check the original one. Mine was called in on Friday. They made the arrangements and promised to expedite delivery. The old one was picked up on Monday and sent to PA and the new one is arriving from CA tomorrow (Wed.). They sent me a new copy of Microsoft Office to replace the one that was loaded on to the returned iMac. I hope all of the issues have been worked out.

what did you say that made them give you a replacement? I've told them and the guy gave me some junk about user preferences and creating a new account.

I staight out asked him if he could DOA this is and give me a replacment he said there was steps needed to be taken.

Should I just demand one since i'm only on day 8 on having the machine?

HHM

Yes, when I ordered a G5 years ago it came and video card was shot, I was not assertive enough on the phone and I let them talk me into taking into a repair center and waiting for almost a week to get it fixed.

Screw that though, if that were to happen again given how expensive these machines continue to be I would ask to speak to a supervisor and reinforce that they're legally bound to replace your Mac within 14 days and that you've already called in a few times.
