My roommate is switching to the mac, but is having trouble getting her MB.

When it arrived on July 25th, there was no MB inside the MB box. She still had all the cables and documentation, but no Macbook.

We called Apple and they keep saying they're investigating the situation. They have given no time frame for a resolution, and my roommate needs this laptop next week for a project.

Has this happened to anyone else? Where should I turn?

She told me that before it was opened, it did have anything that appeared to be tampered with. She just said that it was very light.
The Fed-Ex tracking page had the package weighing in at 9lbs...
Fed-Ex stopped by a couple days later to pickup the box and return it to Apple I guess.

Isn't there a branch of Apple Support that ensures customer satisfaction issues?

This sort of reminds me of my opening a frozen chicken dinner, sitting down to eat it and noticing that there was absolutely no chicken (contrary to the many times I'd eaten it without incident before).

Except that MBs cost a hell of a lot more.

apple executive relations - email sjobs@apple.com

They don't "ensure" satisfaction, but they come damn close on a lot of issues. I got a sweet big discount off my next Apple store purchase after a genius ****ed up my iPhone box exchange and I sent off a rattled email to that address. Who knows what they'd do if the macbook came missing.
