Every time I call Apple about why my order was delayed, they do not know.

I got the 3.06 with the standard graphics card. The only customization was the keyboard with the number pad.

I ordered on Tuesday with overnight shipping. The website said ships in 24 hours. But after I placed the order, status said ships 1-3 bus. days, arrives March 12-16.

As of today, Friday at 10pm, my order is still listed as prepared for shipping (2nd day it is listed that way).

I called Apple and they refunded my shipping costs, big deal. But they have no answer why it hasn't shipped, they only read what I can see on the net. One lady said I had to be patient, that it would arrive on Monday but hasn't shipped yet - and that they don't ship on the weekends... So basically they are saying it will arrive ... the day it ships????

LESSON LEARNED: Apple has terrible shipping/customer service communication!! Order next day shipping, they will never do that and you can call and get free shipping, but they will still ship overnight (once they actually ship it). If I had ordered the standard shipping for free, I wouldn't get it until late next week.

Their sale support is useless!!!

there is probably a million ppl ordering the same time as u... if this was any other time and they hadn't just released new **** u probably would have gotten it next day... im sure u will get it alot sooner then everyone else like my self who upgraded the video card so either way one week isnt so bad.

They are very nice, but they have no communication with shipping. They can only read what I can see on the internet. Which doesn't help in some situations.

I've found Apple's shipping and customer service to be nothing short of outstanding!

I tend to agree the people are great, but they do not know everything... They are not told as the last person I talked to about an order mentioned to me. Apple is very tight lipped about what the employees are told and can say. I have a BTO with the 4850 ATI card and indicated shipping is mid April. Not one person (I called 3 times) could tell me why the delay. They bend over backwards to find out why, but in the end it is just speculation. Many people have called Apple Sales and Support inquiring into the exact nature of the 4850 ATI card (desktop vs mobility) and some have been told it is the desktop and others that it is the mobility....

Again, the people are great. It is just that they have limited information on the product or cause for the shipping delay.

When it's shipped, the responsibility moves to the carrier. You can check where it is from carrier's site.

Dude, did you even read the post? It hasn't shipped yet! I'm not an idiot. It's the Apple shipping department that messed up and the Apple customer service department that has supposedly has no way of contacting their own shipping department. It's now been 3 days listed as prepared for shipping.

Shipping to Singapore

All, I ordered my new iMac on 3rd march with the ATI card and yesterday they told me it'll take another 3-4 weeks. Something wrong with the Drivers for the ATI 48x0 based cards that is effecting this shippment and is waiting for 10.5.7 to be released before shipping.

This is the first time there has been a confirmation of the reason for the delay. So they basically said it will be another 3 -4 weeks from now before it will ship, assuming 10.5.7 comes out by then?

gasport, Yes, that is right. That is what the dude at the Apple Premium Reseller told me last week. He could have been talking crap to settle me down as I was pretty mad they couldn't give me a date, but then again, i figured he knew something which I didn't which was more then likely the case.

same problem

Hey all,

I've got the same problem.
My iMac (24" 2.66Ghz, Wireless Mouse & Keyboard) is prepared for shipment since last thursday. So now it's day no. 5
Every time I called the reps they say they don't know why and will contact their shipping department.
Now I will get an email with the reasons for the delay until tomorrow. Honestly I don't believe I will get on until tomorrow...
I mean I pay so much money and then I expect Apple to deliver it quickly and I expect the reps to give me right answers - not like "you'll definitely get the iMac before Easter" 4 Days left. I don't think so honey.

We'll see what happens next...

Well, quite a few of the early Radeon 4850 owners had their credit cards charged at the end of last week. If I were a conspiracy theorist I would posit that Apple is getting the initial wave of Radeon 4850 orders out the door before filling other iMac orders.

Yeah, might be. But mine is already prepared for shipping. So everything is wrapped and packed. It's waiting in Praha. So they could pack it on a lorry and bring it to the netherlands, couldn't they?
Waiting makes me crazy...
